Sktchy Portraits

Thanks to the Sktchy app, I recently got a few portraits done. It's an enormous source of inspiration and I use it for learning purposes. I did all the portraits freehand and I try to draw different perspectives. Also I want to be more creative in using different media.

Here are the first three portraits:

Daenerys Targaryan Pencil Portrait

I did another Daenerys drawing. This time I used water-soluble graphite pencils dry. I could take a brush but then it might get ruined. Because me and the brush are not best friends (yet). ;)

Portrait and Figure Drawing Class

On the weekend I was in a portrait and figure drawing class! It was awesome - the teacher was great, I learned new techniques and I did quite well with life drawing in general. The only problem I have is measuring proportions. I simply don’t do it, I mostly draw contour lines first and most of the times the proportions are right. So the teacher taught me how to measure afterwards to reassure the correct proportions. I need a lot more practice, so I hope I find people willing to sit for me so I can draw (their face). These are some drawings I did during the class.

Benedict Cumberbatch Drawings/Paintings combined

Portrait Sketch (pencils)

Watercolour

Pencil drawing

Done with Cretacolor Nero leads

I thought I just combine all the Benedict Cumberbatch drawings/paintings in one single post. I've drawn him so many times for a Sherlock Convention which I'm not attending anymore. If you're interested in prints just let me know.

Elizabeth Taylor

I’ve done this drawing after a drawing from Ileana Hunter. She is a great artist and I liked her drawing of Elizabeth Taylor so much that I did it myself. When you compare it to hers you see my mistakes lol but it’s just for me and for learning purposes. This is also the first time I tried carbon pencils.

Drawings from the Life Drawing Course

These are the results of my 10 hours life drawing course. Each was done with a life model in 1 1/2-2 hours. The older woman in profile is off and the teacher couldn't tell me. It was an interesting course but no criticism came from the teacher - she was nice to everyone, resulting in the feeling I didn't learn anything from the course. But it was nice actually drawing life people. :)

Marilyn Monroe Pencil Portrait Drawing

This is my portrait of Marilyn Monroe.
It's available in my Etsy Store:

Christina Ricci Pencil Portrait Drawing

This is supposed to be Christina Ricci. I think she is not so recognizable but I liked the portrait. When I did the scan I erased her left earlobe accidentally.. I will do a new scan someday - just wanted to post it now. I tried a new method where I used graphite powder and brush along with my pencils.

Natalie Portman

This is my first portrait of Natalie Portman. It's done with graphite pencils on bristol paper - and yes this paper makes all the difference. ;-)
