First plein air

Today was my first plein air painting day. It was so much fun! Our teacher was such an inspiration and help. I like Gumpoldskirchen very much and it's perfect for painting outside. Although I was very uncomfortable first after the larger parts were placed correctly I got a better feeling for perspective and composition. The most fun part was how people reacted who strolled along. Some asked, others made nice jokes. Overall it was interesting what happened during a day. We sat there from 9 to 4. I'm certainly going to paint that way again although I need much more practice with watercolour.

This was my view, the painting is not finished yet.

Coloured Pencil Drawing of Sansa Stark (GoT)

This is my version of Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones. Done with FC Polychromos, Prismacolor and Caran d'Ache Luminance pencils. It's photographed in direct sunlight thus shimmers a bit. The paper is a gray Canson Mi-Tientes which I actually liked. It takes many layers. I've bought three Caran d'Ache Luminance pencils -just three, because they are very expensive. But they are like a Royce Royce among the coloured pencils IMHO. The full set of them go straight on the list of what I would buy if I win the lottery. :D

Audrey Hepburn Coloured Pencil Portrait

I still have problems with layering the coloured pencils. The neck is a disaster.. This time I've used my limited range of Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils. They're oil-based which I like. Anyhow, I need to get the layering right. It's the same with graphite pencils, when it comes to shading I still have problems.

I had a hard time with these wax-based Prismacolor pencils. So I bought a small set of Faber-Castell Polychromos and I hope they're nicer. I've made so many mistakes - this was a try-and-error portrait. In the end I'm not so disappointed as I thought. Although I have to learn waaaaayyy more about portraits and colors and -- *sigh* everything.
